Cerebral palsy blood circulation improved with acupoint injection therapy
According to a recent study published in the Journal of Molecular Neuroscience, acupoint injection therapy may be effective for children with cerebral palsy in boosting blood circulation in the brain and supporting the recovery of damaged brain cells.
The therapy works by injecting both conventional and homeopathic medicine directly into ligaments, muscles and other damaged tissues, and is commonly used for pain management.
The research involved the injection of a GM1 compound into specific acupuncture points to determine whether the therapy would boost motor and mental development into children with cerebral palsy.
The GM1 molecule has unique properties which encourage nerve cells to grow and repair, and the researchers submitted that the injection of this compound into acupuncture points on the head may improve blood flow in the brain and help nerve cells recover some of the functions which were lost to the childrens’ condition.
The study involved 90 children separated into three groups with each group receiving a different treatment. Children who were treated with the GM1 acupoint injection into specific acupuncture points on the head had statistically significant changes and also experienced noticeable improvements in blood circulation.
Researchers concluded that the acupoint injections, when used in combination with typical rehabilitation therapies, could improve the lives of children with cerebral palsy, boosting the effectiveness of conventional therapy by increasing blood flow in the brain.
Although further research is needed to discover the best ways to provide this treatment to children with cerebral palsy, it is believed the effects of acupoint injection therapy could have a positive impact on the future of treatment, and that eventually we may see higher rates of motor and cognitive improvements for children undergoing therapy.
