Minimum Wage recommendations 2015
The Low Pay Commission regularly advises the Government on recommendations for changes to the National Minimum Wage which take effect in October each year.
On 23 February 2015, the Commission suggested that the largest increase since 2007 should apply and that the improved economic and labour market conditions should mean that such an increase can be accommodated within businesses. The following rates are recommended:
- 16 – 17 year olds – a 2.2% increase from £3.79 to £3.87 per hour
- 18-20 year olds – a 3.3% increase from £5.13 to £5.30 per hour
- Aged 21 and over – a 3% increase from £6.50 to £6.70 per hour
The proposals will now be considered by the Government and an announcement made on the revised rates in due course.
