Location:                            Finance Department, Wakefield Office

Responsible to:                Legal Cashier Manager

Hours:                                 37 ½ hours per week

Salary:                                 Negotiable dependent on experience

 

 

Chadwick Lawrence is seeking a Trainee Legal Cashier to join our busy Finance Team.

 

The successful Applicant will work as a member of the team within the existing framework of accounting systems and procedures providing assistance in dealing with day-to-day administration of the firm’s Office accounts and Client accounts in accordance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR).  Full training will be given.

 

Applicants should have a can do attitude and demonstrate the capability to work both individually and as part of a team, being able to prioritise their workload and provide support to the wider finance team, including credit control, when needed.  Applicants must also demonstrate their ability to build and maintain positive and effective working relationships with Fee earners and other key stakeholders in the business and importantly have the flexibility to adapt to the ever-changing demands of a busy and demanding

 

Main Duties

  • Dealing with client accounting and adhering the SRA guidelines
  • Checking bank statements and posting onto ledgers
  • Posting monies in and out on client ledgers
  • Processing Bacs & Chaps payments
  • Dealing with Cheques in and out
  • Cancelling cheques
  • Balancing completion statements and dealing with completions daily
  • Processing invoices
  • Dealing with queries from other departments in the business
  • Aged Balances

 

 

Skills Required

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to interact confidently
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft applications
  • Proven ability to plan, manage and prioritise workloads
  • Must be a team player with a flexible approach to working
  • Capability to undertake all assignments in a timely manner
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Computer literacy
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Discretion, as dealing with confidential information
  • Ability to work to deadlines and to do several tasks at the same time
