Regulatory Services

BoxLegal

The new Solicitors’ Regulations and Standards and Accounts Rules came into force at the end of November 2019. Our new BoxLegal service will help to ease the burden and to achieve compliance with the new rules.

The regulatory and compliance requirements for solicitors are now considerable. Our BoxLegal assistance scheme is tailored to help high street solicitors cope with the demands providing help given to solicitors by solicitors.

Chadwick Lawrence has for many years developed and tailored its internal processes to ensure compliance. This is alongside a change in culture in terms of compliance and introduction of vision and values across the firm. We have been a Lexcel accredited firm for over 15 years, and over recent years the work undertaken by the firm’s regulatory team has led to recognition from our Lexcel auditor.

We recognised that it was wrong to view compliance as mere red tape. With the right approach and understanding if properly addressed it could, and can, be adopted and utilised for the benefit of the firm as well as general good practice.

We can help bring this to your firm.

BoxLegal is aimed at the smaller firms who may find the regulatory burden overly time consuming and onerous; we help bring our style and good practice to yours. We offer a range of flexible offers and packages from which you can chose those you require. Boxlegal is undertaken by our regulatory department, which is headed by Nick Worsnop, our COLP and Data Protection Officer.

We start with a fact find to understand what you have in place already and where you might need help. This involves one of our regulatory team members meeting with your managing partner and / or COLP at which we determine the support you need, and you can decide whether or not you would like us to assist.

The basic package will then provide the following subject to your requirements:

  • Client care letter template
  • Terms of business template
  • Money laundering policy
  • Cyber crime policy
  • Bribery policy
  • Guidance on website compliance
  • Data Protection policy
  • Privacy notice
  • Complaints policy
  • Email footers
  • Solicitors Accounts Rules policy

The cost depends upon the size of your firm and your requirements. The fee is payable monthly in advance subject to a minimum term of twelve months but with a six month cancellation period. All of this is of course subject to a confidentiality agreement which we enter into in the first instance with you.
