Employment Law at Chadwick Lawrence has gone from strength to strength this year, surpassing many major milestones that reflect the dedication and commitment of our team.
2025 was defined not only by growth and new talent, but by the work anniversaries of our long-standing team members, highlighting the experience, loyalty and trust that underpin everything we do.
The employment team has also delivered a robust annual events and seminars programme, exemplifying the firm’s dedication to the local community, alongside charity work and client success.
20 Years of Leadership
A key part to the success of the Employment team are our valued partners, Daniel Krigers and Jack Oldroyd, who both celebrated 20 years of service with the firm in 2025.
Daniel specialises in employment law with an exclusive focus on the firm’s Box HR service, where he provides tailored, national-level advice to employers. Jack is an employment litigation specialist, advising both businesses and individuals on all employment-related issues, with a primary focus on employment tribunal claims.
Over the past two decades, Daniel and Jack have played pivotal roles in shaping the employment team into what it is today – a trusted, relationship-driven and forward-thinking department with a strong reputation across the region and beyond. Their influence has helped steer the development of our services, set the tone for our client-centric approach, and build long-standing relationships with businesses that rely on us year after year.
Long service is not unusual within our Employment team. Alongside Daniel and Jack’s impressive anniversaries, I (Sam Pawson) am celebrating 17 years at the firm – adding to the stability and experience that our clients can expect and rely on.
Developing a Modern, People-First Team
This culture of loyalty and growth is supported by our commitment to being a modern, people-first department that embodies the firm’s values of trust, respect and inclusion.
Whether it is encouraging internal progression, supporting flexible working practices, or enabling team members to take enhanced maternity and paternity leave, we are proud to enable a workplace where people can thrive personally and professionally. We have recently congratulated Jack Oldroyd on the birth of his daughter in August, and Sunnia Khaliq on the birth of her daughter in October.
Welcoming New Talent
As we celebrate long service within our team, this year has also been defined by team expansion to strengthen support for our clients. We were delighted to welcome three new starters: James Lockwood, Jessica Goodwin and Lucy Royles.
James, our new Paralegal, recently graduated from the University of Leeds with an LLB Law degree. He brings a year of Paralegal experience from Consilia, an Employment Solicitors based in Leeds.
Jessica has also joined as a Paralegal after graduating earlier this year with an LLB Law degree from the University of York. She has previously completed a vacation scheme at Browne Jacobson in Manchester.
Lucy joined us with over three years of experience from her time as a paralegal in the employment team at Eversheds Sutherland, where she gained significant exposure to both contentious and non-contentious matters.
The addition of James, Jessica and Lucy to the team has strengthened our expertise and extended our support for clients.
This success comes following the 20th anniversary of our employment law offering, BoxHR, in 2024. The retainer service is one of the largest and most trusted HR support schemes in Yorkshire, serving over 250 clients annually, with some clients retained over the entire 20-year period. The service has an impressive 95% customer retention rate, showing the dedication of our team in providing an exceptional service to clients.
Impact Beyond Legal Advice
Beyond internal growth and delivering exceptional legal advice for clients, the employment team continues to play a significant role in the firm’s wider contribution to our local and regional business community.
Our events and seminars programme has achieved great success in 2025, with 580 attendees across 10 events over the year making a meaningful impact on HR professionals, senior leaders, and business owners across the region. In November, the employment team held its annual Mock Tribunal event exploring how disability discrimination cases operate in practice, with over 150 attendees.
More widely, our team has continued to support the firm’s wider programme of charity and community work. We hosted our fifth annual tag rugby event at Headingley Stadium in support of Aspire Community Benefits Society, with 25 Chadwick Lawrence colleagues in attendance. We also relaunched our charity golf day, raising over £6000 for Wakefield Hospice.
Looking to the Future
From expanding our expertise to nurturing long-standing client relationships and shaping a modern, supportive work environment, this year has showcased the strength and success of the employment team at Chadwick Lawrence.
We look forward to the next chapter – one built on the same values of loyalty, innovation and commitment that have guided us for decades.
