Chadwick Lawrence one of first businesses to sign up to Watermark Campaign
Chadwick Lawrence LLP Solicitors are one of the first businesses to sign up to the Watermark campaign.
The campaign is the idea of Chris Sands of Totally Locally. Working in conjunction with the Community Foundation for Calderdale, Chris’ initiative is for businesses in Calderdale, and particularly those affected by the Boxing Day floods, to donate a percentage of profits from goods or services sold under the Watermark brand to a fund to be used in the event of future flood disasters along the Calder Valley.
Chadwick Lawrence attended the launch event which was held at Hebden Bridge Town Hall on 25th April. They are helping the campaign in two ways. Angela Thorp, a family solicitor with the firm based at the Halifax office, and coordinator of the campaign for Chadwick Lawrence, said; “When we heard about the campaign we wanted to be involved from the outset and to lend our support as best we could.”
Angela is born and bred in Calderdale, and the firm has had an office in Halifax for nearly 30 years. Angela explained, “Firstly, we are funding the rental of a Watermark shop in Hebden Bridge for six months which will be used as a hub for the campaign, and to help to promote and publicise it to business, the general public, and visitors. Secondly, we will donate 5% of all legal fees charged to new clients, both individuals and businesses, who are based in the postcode areas HX5, HX6, HX7, OL14 and HD6 and instruct Chadwick Lawrence on any matter between now and 30th September 2016. We hope that this will help raise much needed funds for the campaign. A lot of staff at Chadwick Lawrence live in Calderdale, and most of them have friends who were affected by the flooding.”
It is anticipated that the new Watermark shop will open in June.
New clients to Chadwick Lawrence who wish to have a percentage of the fees charged to them donated to Watermark must ask to do so and quote CLWM. The maximum donation will be £250 per client.
