New Statutory Rates Announced
New statutory rates take effect on 6 April 2014. The most important changes in employment law are:
- Statutory maternity pay – Up from £136.78 to £138.18;
- Statutory paternity pay – Up from £136.78 to £138.18;
- Statutory adoption pay – Up from £136.78 to £138.18;
- Statutory sick pay – Up from £86.70 to £87.55
- Limit on a week’s pay – Up from £450 to £464;
- Maximum basic award/redundancy payment – Up from £13,500 to £13,920;
- Maximum compensatory award – Up from £74,200 to £76,574.
In addition, the Government has announced that, with effect from 1 October 2014, the following changes to the national minimum wage will apply:
- Apprentices under 19 (or over 19 and in the first year of their apprenticeship) – Up from £2.68 per hour to £2.73 per hour;
- Young worker rate (16-17 year olds) – Up from £3.72 per hour to £3.79 per hour;
- Development rate (18-20 year olds) – Up from £5.03 per hour to £5.13 per hour;
- Adult rate (21 and over) – Up from £6.31 per hour to £6.50 per hour.
ESP Subscriber Training
Our remaining dates for the forthcoming ESP training sessions are set out below:
- Wednesday 30th April 2014 – Wakefield Office;
- Wednesday 18th June 2014 – Wakefield Office.
The course content focuses on unfair dismissal, discipline and grievance procedures and performance management. The course will begin at 9:00am and will finish at approximately 1:00pm with complimentary lunch served afterwards.
