Regional trusts set to receive share in £19.2m funding for hospital beds
Four trusts in Yorkshire and the north-east of England are due to receive the government funding in an effort to improve services and increase the number of hospital beds.
It is hoped the funding, which has been allocated as part of the Department of Health and Social Care’s urgent and emergency care recovery plan of a £250m investment in 900 beds across the country, will cut waiting times in the regions.
The scheme includes expanding or developing urgent treatment centres and same-day emergency care services at the three Yorkshire hospitals, Hull Royal Infirmary, Barnsley Hospital and Airedale General Hospital in Keighley, as well as James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
Hull University Teaching Hospital NHS Trust will benefit from £2.77m, £2.4m will go to Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and £4.1m to Airedale NHS Foundation Trust.
