Chadwick Lawrence support Local Unsung Heroes
Yorkshire’s Legal People, Chadwick Lawrence, are showing their support for local community heroes at the Community Foundation Wakefield District Volunteer Awards.
The Community Foundation for Wakefield District, in partnership with the Wakefield Express, are recognising and rewarding the exceptional work done by volunteers across Wakefield and the surrounding areas. By introducing the Community Foundation Wakefield District Volunteer Awards, the partnership aims to give back something to members of Wakefield who have already given so much for other people.
Chadwick Lawrence are happy to announce that they are showing their support for their local community by supporting the awards. Partner, Sarah Wood, based at the Chadwick Lawrence office in Wakefield, is a Trustee of the Community Foundation, and Peter Harling, also a Partner based at the Leeds office, is a member of the organising committee for the event which includes being a member of the awards judging panel.
Every day, these volunteers provide a lifeline for thousands by donating their time to help those living with dementia and mental health issues. Not only this, they help individuals enjoy activities and open doors that may have previously appeared closed. They provide companionship, assist with activities and contribute towards helping others achieve their potential or overcome an obstacle.
During March and the first half of April, the Community Foundation of Wakefield District has provided a number of grants to local organisations, almost all of which are run by volunteers. These groups rely heavily on individuals who are prepared to give up their time and make a commitment that provides opportunities for the benefit of large numbers of people.
Peter Harling, Partner at Chadwick Lawrence said: “Being from Wakefield myself I am aware of the fantastic work of the Community Foundation, to date the foundation have distributed in excess of £1.4m to in excess of 1,000 worthy causes.
The purpose of the event on the 9th of June 2017 is to raise further awareness of the Community Foundation and funds for it to distribute to worthy causes whilst recognising the brilliant work that is being undertaken by countless volunteers across the Wakefield district who put simply are ordinary people doing extraordinary things.”
Entries for nominations close on the 17th of April 2017, and nominations can be made online here. Following this, the awards judging panel will assess all applications and confirm a short-list of finalists.
