We’ve Increased the Size of our Regulatory and Crime Team
Chadwick Lawrence’s Regulatory And Crime Team has increased in size, becoming one of the largest providers of these activities in the Kirklees and Calderdale areas.
The motoring and criminal side of the department is headed by Partner, Nils O’Donoghue. Nils joined Chadwick Lawrence in 2011 and made Partner in 2017. With specialisms in motoring and regulatory law and a passion for advising sports clubs and professionals, Nils has the focus and drive to steer this team towards even more growth and success.
Recent years have seen a rapid demand for private paying criminal and regulatory defence. Cuts to legal aid budgets have led to individuals and businesses seeking more bespoke and personal service. This, alongside a host of other legal changes, has meant our services are in demand with more individuals and businesses reaching out for legal advice and representation. Our motoring expertise has seen particular success and growth over the last two years and regularly receives excellent reviews on social media.
We saw it as important to ensure that our Regulatory Team makes new hires to allow for an influx in caseload. For example, the team recently helped provide sponsorship licenses to Kwikfit. This is to allow Kwikfit to sponsor European Union and non-European Economic Area skilled workers to work for them in the UK.
In September, Lisa Kurowski joined the Team. Lisa previously had a career in criminal law, where she found her passion for the fast paced, pressure-driven environment that it offers. But she moved to Conveyancing following the birth of her daughter, Hannah. With Hannah now being older, Lisa wanted to step back into Criminal Law and Business Regulatory work. Lisa has been focusing on motoring law, which is proving a new challenge as each case is different. Lisa’s new appointment is seen as crucial to the growth of our motoring law practice.
Nils says: “It’s great to have increased the size of our team with a talented and experienced individual. We are in a place where we know we can confidently manage a huge range of inquiries and get the best result for all clients. Lisa has made a difference even within these first few months and has taken to working in our team well. We are confident, particularly in motoring law, our growth as a team will continue.”
Nils has a special interest in working with sports teams or professionals. A key part of his role includes reputational work with such individuals or teams, where he offers preventative advice on best behavioural practices in the sporting industry.
