Dementia Action Week – Events in West Yorkshire
Dementia Action Week is an important opportunity to raise awareness, support individuals living with dementia, and connect people with resources in their communities. Across West Yorkshire, a range of events are being held to mark the week, and ongoing support is available throughout the year.
Local Events During Dementia Action Week
In the Huddersfield area
A full programme of events is being hosted by the Kirklees Wellness Service, including activities, information sessions, and community events.

Ongoing support in your area
Support does not stop when Dementia Action Week ends. Most areas offer year-round help and resources for people living with dementia and their carers. There are several ways to find support:
- Ask at your local GP surgery or Memory Clinic
- Search online using search engines like Google
- Explore local Facebook or community pages for updates on nearby groups and services
Memory Cafés
Many local groups offer Memory Cafés – informal gatherings for people living with dementia and those supporting them. These sessions often feature quizzes, games, and talks from guest speakers, covering topics such as local history or practical advice for living with dementia.
Memory Cafés provide an excellent way to stay involved in the community and meet others on a similar journey in a welcoming and relaxed setting.
