Chadwick Lawrence triumph at the Huddersfield Corporate Softball Tournament ending a three year barren run!
The tournament, organised by the Huddersfield Law Society Uganda Twinning Committee, helps raise money to send a lawyer from Huddersfield to Uganda to help train local Ugandan Lawyers.
The competition once again took place at the YMCA at Salendine Nook, involving 9 corporate teams from the Huddersfield area.
In the first game, Chadwick Lawrence overcame stinging nettles, a large oak tree and countless bumps and bruises to beat a spirited team from Boultons Estate Agents, 37-32.
The next game saw Chadwick Lawrence come up against Switalskis Solicitors. A strong batting performance, coupled with a defensive effort which saw the Switalskis team bowled out before the 10-minute session had ended, saw Chadwick Lawrence edge out their rivals, winning 28-20.
The victory against Switalskis took Chadwick Lawrence into a winner-takes-all final against Makin Dixon Solicitors. In a low scoring game, Chadwick Lawrence relied on a stellar defensive performance, epitomised by superb over the head catch by Holly Butterworth, to defeat Makin Dixon 18-10.
The victory capped off a thoroughly enjoyable event, which most importantly raised substantial funds for a great cause. Special mention must also go to Kate Donaldson of Baxter Caulfield Solicitors for her excellent organisation of the tournament once again.
