Hospitals in West Yorkshire dealing with fourth highest bed occupancy in England
New figures have revealed that Covid-19 admissions are putting increasing strain on hospitals across West Yorkshire and bed occupancy is continuing to rise across the region.
According to data released by NHS England, nearly 20 per cent of acute and general hospital beds are now being taken up by patients who have tested positive for Covid-19, making it the fourth highest region in England.
Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust has confirmed that it’s hospitals are currently treating 129 inpatients who are confirmed to have tested positive for coronavirus, eight of whom are being cared for in intensive care.
In the period between 31st October and 8th November, 123 patients were admitted, more than 13 a day.
The trust’s medical director Dr David Birkenhead, said “These are difficult times for all the families involved and our thoughts are with them.”
