Government publish new guidance for employers on COVID-19 vaccinations

The government have recently published new guidance, information and resources for employers on COVID-19 vaccinations. In summary, the guidance recommends that employers encourage and support their staff to get vaccinated and provides documentation for an employer’s use in providing information about the vaccination programme. The guidance also discusses what the employer should do if an employee wishes to get vaccinated during working hours, and sick leave if the vaccine causes illness.

COVID-19: COVID status certificate reports published

The government have recently decided not to make COVID status certificate a mandatory condition of entry to certain premises at this present time. Factors which assisted them to make this decision include that the same would lead to a burden on businesses and individuals who have not had the opportunity to be vaccinated. The government have left the opportunity open to introduce vaccination status certificate in the future, due to concerns over a potential worsening situation in the winter months, so a further update in this regard may follow in the future.

Collective Bargaining – our recent article

Collective bargaining describes the process by which workers negotiate terms of employment, through their union representatives; unions will most likely pre-negotiate, before negotiating and attempting to reach contractual agreement on a particular matter.  This process is pro-employee and certainly gives a voice to workers in the betterment of their wages and working conditions.  As well as providing security and stability, collective bargaining also significantly reduces the possibility of strikes, which can seriously hamper productivity and cause substantial damage to organisations….
